Everything Good To Go

Posted by delta on December 5th, 2016

So, finally got everything moved from Maui to Virginia…  My cousin, Mark, was moving his Mom to Florida at the same time – so we put all our stuff and all her stuff on a 16′ POD and sent it to San Diego.  Mark and I decided to save a few thousand a piece and drive it all cross country.  We met the POD in San Diego, loaded it all on to a Penske and took a drive…

3,347 miles, 12 states and 53 hours of driving (72 hours total) and it was all done…

Now we’re hanging out in Florida waiting to go to DC for a show which I am just hoping comes off without a hitch…  It’s a 24 hour one off that starts at 15:00 on the 7th, loads in overnight and roles straight into the show the next morning – then we strike right after it.  So my show crew is going to get no sleep for 24 hours…  Right now, the best I can hope for is that everything made it on to the truck (which is on the road as I write this) so we have everything we need from the get go…  The local Branch office will be closed and the VER warehouse will be closed by the time we start – so we have only what comes off the truck to work with (no back up for anything)…

…and away we go…

So, got a new bike…

It’s a sweet ride and it folds, so I can potentially take it on the Metro during peak times if I need to. Only thing I really need to change is the tires. They’re off road tires and grab everything – so, basically, the moment I stop pedaling, I stop moving. The tires I have are 26 x 1.95 – if anyone knows of a good road tire of that size, please give me a holler…

I’m getting over a knee injury – been out of commission since October, but need to get back into rugby shape, so I’m going to (as much as possible) take the bike on the Metro (DC) in the mornings and ride home (Reston, VA) at night…

I rode from Reston to DC the other day. The W&OD trail at the Reston Metro Station to the Custis Trail. I was going to take the Custis Trail to the Mount Vernon Trail to the Bridge that takes you to the Jefferson Memorial (I think everyone calls it the 14th Street Bridge). But, somehow, I took a left (totally missing the rest of the Custis Trail) and ended up taking the Francis Scott Key Bridge to Georgetown, then down the waterfront (Rock Creek & Potomac Parkway) path to the Lincoln Memorial and back to Virginia, crossing the Arlington Memorial Bridge…

As I was going across the bridge I could see the trail that I had missed below me, but there was no way for me to get there from the side of the bridge I was on (I didn’t realize until I looked at it from my maps app when I got home that I could have gotten there had I been on the other side of the bridge). I tried riding around a bit to see if I could pick up another trail, but there was none to be had. As I was about to backtrack and suddenly, right next to the SeaBee’s Memorial, in a bush, there was an elevator with a sign saying “Arlington Metro”….

Sweet! As any good NOVA Resident would, I have my Metro Pass on me at all times. I totally took that bad boy all the way back to Reston. Funny thing is, everyone else had the same idea that day. When I got to the platform, there were at least 30 folks with bikes waiting to get aboard. From what they were telling me, the wind was just too strong that day and they didn’t want to ride against it all the way home…

I didn’t understand it until we got to Reston and I had to ride home. Yup, glad I did that – it would have taken me hours to get home riding against that wind…

Anyway, for my first long ride on my new bike – it was a good one. My knee felt great and my quads burned awesomely…

Thank You!

Posted by delta on August 3rd, 2014

I wanna thank those of you who have bought either one of my books online. I love selling them online (and being the seller) cause it allows me to see who is actually buying my books. I’ll get an email from someone saying they enjoyed it and I can look to see if they actually bought it – makes it really simple to discover who’s full of crap and who’s not – kind of a nice reality check for me personally…

I’m in the process of putting together another book here shortly – trying to put the sonnets in order, and writing more to fill in the gaps right now…

I’ll give more detail as the book comes together – it’s actually going to be close to 250 pages – so I have a lot of organizing to do…

Event Planning for Technical Directors

My new book is out on Amazon/Kindle already and will be out on iTunes most likely Sunday. I’d really like any input any of you may have on either of my books – slip me an email when you get the chance and let me know what you think of them…

I’ve been writing a lot lately. Probably because I have found the perfect subjects to write about (for me at least)…

My next book will start a series that history buffs, and those who enjoy poetry, will like… I’m going to write the second book before the first; so, if I want to publish them in order, it will be a while before they go on sale. I’d give you more info than that, but you’ll read it all shortly…
